About Mission The Cycle Programs Year One FAQ Donate

Most girls learn about their period. Almost none learn about their cycle.

Girlie Foundation makes science-based menstrual and hormonal health education accessible to every girl — through free digital tools, community workshops, and school & workplace pilot programs.

Our Mission

Hormones shape mood, energy, sleep, appetite and focus — yet most girls are never taught how.

Without this context, girls interpret normal, recurring changes as personal shortcomings — leading to confusion, self-blame, and the feeling that something is wrong with them. We exist to make this knowledge accessible to the next generation.

Without education, women are left to navigate their health without the tools to understand it.

The Four Phases

Days 1–5
Menstrual

Menstrual

Hormones are at their lowest. Energy dips and the body asks for rest, warmth, and iron-rich nourishment. This is the phase most girls are taught about — but only as "the period," not as one movement in a predictable rhythm.

Questions, Answered

Frequently asked

Hormones like estrogen and progesterone influence mood, energy, appetite, sleep, cognition, social behavior, and physical performance. Understanding that these monthly fluctuations are predictable biology — not personal shortcomings — supports mental health, confidence, productivity, and healthy participation in daily life.

After ovulation, progesterone rises and then drops, which can influence mood, appetite, sleep, and energy. Increased cravings are common because the body may need additional energy while preparing for menstruation. Recognizing the pattern helps you support your body instead of feeling frustrated by it.

Cramps have been normalized for generations, but a healthy cycle is not meant to leave you regularly suffering. By understanding your hormones and supporting your body through nutrition, movement, sleep, and lifestyle habits, many people experience a more balanced cycle with fewer symptoms.

Menstrual education long focused only on reproduction and managing periods. Cultural stigma, limited research on women's health, and gaps in medical education meant generations grew up without learning how hormones shape daily life. Girlie Foundation exists to change that for the next generation.

Funding supports curriculum development, school and community workshops, educational resources, technology development, app accessibility, and program operations — everything needed to reach more girls with reliable, science-based information.

About Us

A world where every girl grows up understanding her cycle.

Where every woman has access to trusted hormonal health education — and body literacy is recognized as an essential part of health education.

Our Vision

Every girl deserves to grow up knowing that her body is not a mystery — it follows a rhythm she can learn to read.

Meet the Founder

"For the first time, I could connect what I was feeling to what my hormones were doing."

Like many women, Skylynn grew up without a clear understanding of how her menstrual cycle and hormones could affect the way she felt and functioned throughout the month. Every month she noticed recurring changes in mood, energy, appetite, cravings, and cognition before her period — but without context, it was easy to assume something was wrong, or simply blame herself for feeling different.

At 22, she began tracking her cycle and discovered the science behind those patterns. That knowledge changed the way she understood her body — and inspired her to help other women gain that understanding much earlier in life.

With a background in health and fitness coaching, she began developing an app to help women track their cycles. As the project grew, she realized the need extended far beyond an app — this was knowledge she wished she had grown up with, and knowledge every girl deserves. That realization became Girlie Foundation.

Understanding your hormones shouldn't be something you have to discover on your own.
